Not the easy way out~

I’ve been working so hard to get to my 18-month goal.

It really bothers me when people say or think I took the easy way out!

Seriously, what is so easy about working out 3 times a day?

What is so easy about measuring every morsel that enters my mouth?

What is so easy about counting calories, fat grams, carbs and proteins?  It’s not easy.  Nothing about it is easy.  But it’s certainly much easier than living the life of a morbidly obese woman.  The Lap Band is only a tool.  It only works as well as you work it.  You can bypass it pretty easily.  You can graze, eat around it or just eat those slider foods - i.e. chips, cookies, desserts.  (all the worst foods go down easy)

Sometimes I think about the changes I’ve made in my life and I think, “why couldn’t I have done this without a Band?”  Why? Because I needed to find something that made me (forced me) to make a real commitment!  Getting the Lap Band has forced me to make a commitment to a change.  AND it also has helped me be satiated for a longer period of time, on much smaller portions of food.  The Band does that - if you follow the rules.

I am not on a diet, I am on a lifestyle change.  It’s not easy. It’s doable.  And it’s possible that one day I will be a normal sized, healthy, active woman!

I pray.  I give Thanks.  And I believe!
